Raw organic chia seeds from Mexico (Salvia hispanica).
Already prized by the Aztecs and Maya, the raw chia seeds are best when added to fruit, nut or seed mixes. They are also ideal for dieting, since the sensation of feeling full is promoted by eating the seeds.
While chia originally comes from Mexico, it is now cultivated in other South American countries due to the steadily rising demand for the product. The herb is a member of the mint family and grows to a height of approx. one metre. The chia plant has shimmering blue flowers which form a capsule containing the seeds. After being harvested by hand, the chia seeds are dried at low temperatures out of direct sunlight.
