Product Details Organic Acerola Powder, 100 g
Acerola cherries grow on bushes or small trees of one to three metres in height that grow mostly in Mexico, Brazil and Panama. Here they are found both on riverbanks and in damp ravines as well as in rocky terrain. Acerola is a tropical stone fruit with a diameter of 15 to 18 mm. The fruit is also known as the acerola cherry, Barbados cherry or West Indies cherry. Thanks to its high vitamin C content, it is very popular all over the world.
Contrary to what its name might imply, the acerola cherry is not related to our native grown cherries. It’s true that it has a similar appearance, but that’s where the similarities end. The fruit ripens in 25 days and can be harvested up to four times a year in its countries of origin. Fresh acerola cherries contain plenty of fruit juice and have a thin skin. They decay within three to five days, making them unsuitable for transporting.
To manufacture our Organic Acerola Powder (malpighia glabra), the acerola cherries are freeze-dried and gently ground into a powder. Like all our products, the Organic Acerola Powder has no filler or carrier additives and is of raw food quality. Our Organic Acerola Powder is great for smoothies, muesli, fruit salad and juices. Thanks to its fruity taste, it is very versatile to use.
